TakeI was told by my colleague at work about an awareness and support campaign to help prosthetic cancer patients. The campaign is named “Movember” (www.movember.com) referring to a moustache grown during the month of november. Tempted by this creative idea, i signed up for it and decided to grow some facial hair last month and i must say people loved it :)

WorryLong back i had this question in my mind – “Can i live a worry free life at all?”. The immediate and intuitive answer was “No, that’s impossible”. In this busy world, where we run for our everyday food and necessities, it is rather impossible to live worry free. And to top that, some if not most people, do find some sinister pleasure in creating worries for others.

SleepYou snooze, you lose. That’s what we were told when we were young. But is sleep so very unimportant? Not at all. Sleep is something that is routine and involuntary and is extremely important in our day to day life. Every being including plants have a set sleep pattern. While the way animals sleep is straight forward, plants ‘sleep’ by not performing photosynthesis and just respire all through the night.

Hunger and Poverty Fact 1: According to a recent census, there were 793 billionaires and close to 8 million millionaires in this world – that is less than 0.2% of the world population. Between them they own assets close to $50 trillion.

Fact 2: Everyday about 25000 people die because of poverty and according to 2001 census, about 2.7 billion people lived with an income of under $2 a day- that is close to 40% of the world population. Continue reading »
